The Essentials was a collaborative photography project exhibited across Munich's U-Bahn stations, paying tribute to workers in professions defined as "systemrelevant" - essential - during the pandemic. Beyond documentation, the project sought to humanize and give visibility to those who sustained daily life in a time of isolation and uncertainty. By placing their portraits in public spaces, The Essentials questioned notions of value, visibility, and collective responsibility, echoing my broader interest in how identity and care are shaped by social systems, and how photography can serve as an act of recognition and quiet solidarity.
