S.O.S.: The Tourist (2016 - ongoing)
S.O.S. (Success Oriented Society): The Tourist is an ongoing series examining how identity is performed and consumed through photography and social expectations, and how visual culture shapes our sense of belonging and success. The title, S.O.S., evokes both a call for help and the sense of being caught in the unrelenting demands of performance and self-presentation. Taking the figure of the tourist as a metaphor for the modern self, the series questions how desire, validation, and self-representation intertwine in a culture of display. Emerging from my own experiences of mobility and dislocation, S.O.S. forms a counterpoint to my more intimate works, extending the inquiry from personal to societal terrains of identity and perception.
